Daily activities are fun and encourage learning through play. Activities are designed to support all areas of children's development while exploring themes.

Here are some photos of us in action over the years.  Please click on the Albums below for a description and to see a larger image.

Creative Activities

At Little Artist's Home Daycare, creativity is nurtured by exploring art, music, dancing and imaginative play.  The environment is prepared with theme related toys and items to allow for child led, open ended pretend play.

Cognitive Activities

Story time is offered every morning and features theme related books, felt board stories, rhymes, songs and finger or puppet plays for language development. We also explore concepts such a shapes, colours, opposites, the alphabet, the weather, etc.  Early math such as counting, sorting, matching, etc. are done in a fun interactive way.

Sensory Activities

Sensory activities are also an important part of our day.  Apart from being tons of fun, I love how they build concentration, spacial skills and encourage children to think in new ways.

Fine Motor Activities

I incorporate daily activities that strengthen hand muscles which are essential for life skills such as dressing, using utensils and writing.

Outside Play

We are so fortunate to have such a wonderful outside space surrounded by nature. The backyard has lots of mature trees that provide ample shade.  Open the gate and there is even more room to run and play in the private green space, it's like our extended backyard.  What a perfect way for children to develop a love for nature, explore, use their imagination and play.

Gross Motor Activities

I offer a variety of indoor and outdoor games, as well as neighbourhood and nature walks and dancing. These activities develop balance, coordination and muscle strength.  We are in walking distance to two parks.

Social

The small family setting of a home daycare is a gentle way to expose your child to social situations on their own.  I guide children as they learn to share, take turns and solve conflicts. I strive to model positive and compassionate behaviour as I teach children to respect one another.  I encourage older children to help and look out for their younger friends.
